Support the 2021 Fiesta

Dear Community Member,

We are inviting you to be a part of a growing movement of celebration of diversity and inclusion in the Tri-Cities, the 3rd Annual Grand Haven Hispanic Heritage Fiesta during the last week of September.

Our first year, with over $20,000 in community sponsorships, we threw an amazing block party in Central Park, one that exceeded our wildest hopes. With amazing food, a fantastic cantina, live music all day long, great kids’ activities, and an active Mercado full of vendors, we spent all day celebrating the Hispanic community that has been such an important part of our area for so many years—though often unrecognized. After all the bills were paid, we even were able to donate $5,000 to the Migrant Resource Council, the single largest donation they have received and one that transformed the services they offered migrant families in our area in 2020.

The energy from that Fiesta grew, as has the team of those involved. Last year, we had a COVID safe “Fiesta” by sponsoring a restaurant week, virtual dance lessons, and a food truck day. We were able to donate $5,500 to Lighthouse Immigration Advocates, all while helping support our local restaurants.
.

This year, we will have an entire week of celebration planned, pending COVID restrictions. We will start the week with the Parade of Flags in Central Park. Tribute to Mana concert at the waterfront on Friday, and the big FIESTA on Saturday!
We will continue with a Restaurant Week, a special ticketed dinner on Thursday, a

But that’s not all. We are currently at work creating a formal 501c3 entity, the Tri- Cities Puentes Initiative (TCPI). Puentes is the Spanish word for bridge—a powerful symbol for our area and the inspiration for what our organization wants to do: build bridges between Hispanic/Latinx culture and the larger Tri-Cities community.

We hope to raise funds this year to support another Hispanic/Latinx organization, a mentoring program for young Latinx community members, and startup costs for our new organization that will host these events.

Please consider joining us in this important work, celebrating the heritage and culture of the Hispanic community in Grand Haven.

¡Celebremos!

Thank you to our 2020 Fiesta Supporters!

Being able to do the 2nd Grand Haven Hispanic Heritage Fiesta in the midst of a global pandemic, while still keeping everyone safe, was a tremendous undertaking. We are grateful to our Leadership Team and Volunteers, who worked so hard during this year to find creative ways to keep the Fiesta alive. Thank you, as well, to each and every one of our Fiesta Supporters who gave so generously so that we could not only celebrate the Hispanic heritage and culture of our area but also support the amazing work of Lighthouse ImmigrantAdvocates (LIA), who will receive a grant of half of all proceeds from this year’s Fiesta! ¡Celebramos!
